Lissi was found with her litter mates dumped in a state forest in our county. There were 9 of them and she was so much smaller than the others that we thought she might not be from the same litter. They were so mangy they didn't have any fur and it's a miracle they all survived. Once they were cured of the mange and their coats grew out they were some of the prettiest puppies we'd ever fostered.
They all looked very different from each other but they all had curly or wavy coats. We think they are an Airedale/Belgian Shepherd Mix.
Lissi does have partial vision in the eye that is open and I think I can see her other eye. The vets around here just aren't up to date enough to really check her out and since this is a farming community they really don't see it as a big issue.
We would love to find Lissi a loving home where she will get a thorough exam by a qualified vet because I think there is a chance the other eye could be opened and perhaps she could see out of it.
We will not fly Lissi. The adopter must come to my house to pick her up.

BLIND CHOW "SUGAR BEAR" IS LOOKING FOR A HOME

We are looking for an adoptive home, or sanctuary for 6 year old (approx) Sugar Bear.  She is located at the Katann Chow Rescue in Luverne, MN.  You may recognize her from an earlier posting.  She was adopted but is not getting along with the other chow in the household, who is not tolerant of other dogs in his space.  She is people & dog friendly. She is about 45 lbs, spayed female who has minimal light/dark sight. She is up to date on all vaccinations, HW negative and on monthly heart worm preventative. She has some lubricating eye drops to provide some added comfort to her eyes.  These pictures show her shaved down due to matting when she was picked up as a stray.  Her fur has grown out and she is a cutie! (we are trying to get more current pictures)  She is very docile, loves belly rubs and enjoys going for walks. She is interested in cats so careful introduction recommended.  She has adapted well at her current location, learning the lay of the household.  She enjoys being near people and hanging out with you.  She has a playful side but doesn't know much about toys.  With slow introduction and monitoring she could benefit from being with another dog in the house.  A blind dog reacts and displays reactions a little differently than a sighted dog.  So slow introductions will allow the resident dog to learn her mannerisms.  If you know of a potential adopter or have contacts feel free to forward this e-mail.  Let's join together to find Sugar Bear a "sweet" home!  If pics do not come through let me know and I will forward using a different e-mail provider.
