Description:
Good with people
Good with kids
Good with cats
Good with other dogs
Great age - around 4 years old
Energetic in a FUN way! We want the person(s) who adopt him to be active, like to walk, hike, play ball, etc.

Butler has a perfect disposition.  He does have retinal degeneration, so he has lost about 50% of his sight.  We took him to the ophthalmologist at City of Angels. He will probably go blind at some point, but dogs adapt to blindness way better than people do.  We have also had 2 TPLO surgeries for torn ACL's (anterior cruciate ligaments) on his hind legs.  He is recovering like a champ.  We would love to see Butler go to a home with a back yard.  He loves his yard, the porch, sunbathing, etc.  But he also loves the sofa, TIVO, the kitchen cats, dogs, people, etc.    Butler is a special dog and we sure would love to talk to you more about him.  His foster mom and dad are completely smitten with him.  We want his home to be as special as he is.

You can tell by looking at him he's an American Bulldog/American Staffordshire Terrier mix.

One other thing you should know about Butler:  When we first rescued him, we noticed he had a hard time keeping food down.  He would regurgitate a bit after eating or drinking.  So we took him to a specialist.  He has a small problem with his esophagus.  Nothing serious...but the specialist recommended he eat his meals slightly elevated to help him keep food down.  So his foster parents bought Butler a Bailey Chair.  You can read all about Bailey Chairs right here: http://petprojectblog.com/archives/dogs/megaesophagus-and-the-bailey-chair/  He is sooo good about eating in this and it has helped him tremendously.  We will give the family that is lucky enough to adopt Butler this Bailey Chair.

Sweet Rainy has probably been thru a lot in his short lifetime.  This 92 pound Aussie/Malamute mix with border collie markings, approximately 5-6 years old, was dumped in the Salinas shelter, pretty obviously because of his badly injured right eye.  (photo attached, if you’re squeamish don’t open).  Rainy was scared, dirty, and nobody came to claim him.  The call came from our friends at the Salinas shelter:  this dog needs out or, due to his injury, he will be euthanized!   Because that’s what Norsled does, that’s who we are, and because his picture tugged at my heartstrings, we pulled him.  Rainy is now safe.

His surgery to remove a painful, bulging and useless right eye is complete thanks to Animal Health Center, a wonderful facility in Salinas.  Prognosis – Rainy is now cancer and tumor free.  Injury could have been caused by trauma, untreated glaucoma, we don’t know, but his other eye is fine. Freshly groomed, he looks splendid with his big shiny black and white coat gleaming.  (more photos attached).  He has blossomed since the surgery, is happy and perky.  His ugly protruding eye must have been very uncomfortable.  The post-op drain was just removed, his cone will come off in a few days and the stitches will dissolve. Once his fur grows back he will be drop dead gorgeous, big and friendly.  He is currently resting in a quiet foster home, a wonderful Norsled adopter who has another one-eyed dog.  Coincidence?  I think not!

In the meantime, can you lend a paw to help us pay for this costly surgery and after-care.  A click on the Paypal icon on www.norsled.org and the notation “for Rainy’s surgery” will assist us immensely.   We count on our supporters in times like these, and you always come thru for the dogs.  It makes a difference in all our lives, and it surely makes a difference to the dogs we save.  If you can’t or don’t want to use paypal, send your tax deductible contributions payable to “Norsled” to me at 1561 Sutherland Court, Concord  94521.  Thanks from all of us in advance for helping yet another beautiful canine achieve a happy forever life.  And if you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact me!

SUZY-Q

Contact Information:

Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue

Suzy-Q is one of the sweetest, loving dachshunds in Colorado. She is very special little dachshund as she sees the world through her nose, ears and her heart. We are not sure how long Suzy has been blind, but the specialist who saw her believes her blindness is due to Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome (SARDS). SARDS does not cause any other health problems and Suzy-Q is definitely the picture of good health. When Suzy first arrived she was very scared and could not stop shaking. Every day she is showing more confidence and now goes in and out the door, wags her tail and is even trying to engage the resident dachshunds in play. Suzy is house trained to a schedule, absolutely loves belly rubs and to snuggle up with you on a comfy chair or in the people bed. Suzy would be a wonderful addition to a quiet adult only home where she can continue re-learning the world she lives in. If you are that very special someone willing to give Suzy a wonderful forever home full of love then please fill out our adoption application at www.c2cdr.org. Suzy's adoption fee is 150.00.
